You don’t understand my business, how can you possibly help? 

 I have already tried that; it doesn’t work. 

I don’t think you can help me.  You are not an Engineer.

 I have been doing this for +35 years, you will never find anything that I haven’t already tried.  

 You must do it this way, because that is the way we have always done it.  

 Lean principles may work on the factory floor, but they don’t apply in the back-office or functional work.  

I have tried to make improvements, but no one ever listens to me, so I have given up.  

I don’t have any authority to recommend or implement simplification ideas.  

You can’t implement any tangible improvements without spending money.
